Abstract

Bibliotherapy is a new phenomenon of the present, the study of which involves theorists from the library science, pedagogy, psychology, social
sphere as well. This non-traditional method of therapeutic influence on the patient is gaining popularity also because, due to difficult situation in the eastern Ukraine, when the parents with children are forced to leave their own home and to move to a new territory of residence, a new, vulnerable social category of the population has appeared – the children and teens moved from the ATO zone. In order to rehabilitate and normalize the process of their adaptation in the new social environment, it is necessary to use the full range of therapeutic methods of impact on mind, one of which may be bibliotherapy. The article deals with development of bibliotherapy for children and adolescents in Ukraine and abroad. Three essential components are considered for effective implementation of biblical therapy process with children and adolescents in the children’s library: librarian-bibliotherapeutic, reader-patient, bibliotherapeutic room or space. It is proposed to create a division of librarians-bibliotherapists in libraries for children into two groups: professional bibliotherapists and professional counselors. During the bibliotherapeutic course, a special attention should be paid to creating a pleasant therapeutic atmosphere, to approach professionally to all stages of bibliotherapy, to find time for personal acquaintance with the latest scientific discoveries in bibliotherapy, to monitor professional periodicals. A conclusion is drawn about the importance of interaction of the librarian-bibliotherapeutic with the reader/patient. When choosing the books for the biblio- therapy process with children and adolescents one should give preference to small genre forms, the children need to be interested in reading and not lose credible relationships during the bibliotherapy process. The recommendations for designing a biblio-therapeutic cabinet/space in the library for children are developed. It is important to pay attention to the basic principles of organizing bibliotherapeutic space: furniture, a scale of colours, lighting, houseplants, rational use of cabinet space dividing it to such zones as individual and group therapy zone, official place of bibliotherapeutic, free zone, game zone and multimedia zone.
