Specific nature of editing of scientific popular texts for posting on the Internet
Abstract
The high-powered editors who are accustomed to edit the texts for print information sources, fail often to prepare the materials properly online, much less it is difficult to do it for a young specialist. A modern editor must have skills in preparing any texts, both for publication in print media, as well as for online editions. This is the precisely need to explain the rules for editing materials online on the example of popular science texts.
The objective of the study is to determine the principles of the editor's work with facts and style of popular science texts that are being prepared for publication online.
In editorial activity, the attention to scientific popular texts adapted for Internet is not accidental. Firstly, almost each Internet user is interested in such materials every day. Secondly, there are specialized, professional and industry-based online editions with texts of this kind. Thirdly, the modern Internet-periodicals, placing on their pages the materials with popular scientific nature, can satisfy the intellectual needs of the modern youth. Therefore, the young editor should be ready to work with relevant texts.
It should also be emphasized that there is negative trend for Internet, namely decreasing the overall level of culture of texts, especially the materials of popular science topics, which is caused by the fact that in publishing industry there are authors and editors without corresponding specialization as well as specialists who do not have enough practical skills for writing such texts.
The article deals with the specific nature of editing of scientific popular texts on the stage of factual materials processing and style editing for posting them on the Internet.
