Toy-book as a perspective kind of book prodaction on the modern book market

Abstract

In the article the features of conceptual approach to creation and
functioning of a toy-book on the modern book publishing market are studied. The basic requirements and principles of text and visual material presentaion in the given editions are considered. The technical features of typography in accordance with the legislative-normative acts and the peculiarities of perception of the reader's audience are investigated. The functional characteristics of education and game motives in a toy-book are revealed. It is found out that as a product of integration, the toy book is the result of artistic and technical-production processes with formation of a holistic, multifunctional toy- book system; it is intended for the youngest children’s readership and it corresponds to physiological, mental, aesthetic needs of the young reader; as an integration technology, the toy book for children is a tool for improving the pedagogical process aimed at entrenchment of certain knowledge and practical tasks in the process of entertainment, education, development and socialization of a child into the society; it is implemented through ativization of all information channels perceived by the child using the rational means such as functional and communicative characteristics of the toy book’s design, specificity of information and symbolic structure of language, interactivity of the processes of information perception). Thus, the toy book as an integration model is a holistic multifunctional informational and educational complex with the highest form of interaction of all its components - informational, constructive, aesthetic, semantic ones, which encourages overcoming fragmentation and mosaic of knowledge of a child and acquisition of vital values and formation of the system of value-based view of life. A list of tips and principles for popularizing literature and culture among the youngest category of readers, development of their tastes and preferences through the non-standard form of filing text and illustrative material has been applied.
