The article analyses philosophical theories to rethink the introduction of digital cognitive technologies in journalism (past and present) and to formulate hypotheses about their future opportunities and risks in the media. These theories help to discuss the value basis for the development and use of new technologies, especially in the context of expanding the cognitive skills of journalists when working with socially important information (collection, verification, analysis, presentation, etc.). The relevance of the article lies in the need to constantly comprehend how digital cognitive technologies affect the media. After all, the media not only informs but also shapes the audience's worldview, its perceptions (frames, Overton's windows, spirals of silence), stereotypes, and public sentiment. The article discusses the key philosophical trends that are important for the development of these technologies: the theory of social construction of technologies, transhumanism, representationalism, computer science, functionalism, as well as related epistemological and ethical issues. The study used descriptive, systematizing, comparative methods, as well as analysis, synthesis and generalization.
