Abstract

The article continues the cycle of research publications based on the results of studying truth as a social-communication category of journalism and the Bible as a unique media that has been broadcasting fundamental universal values since ancient times. In the modern era of global post-truth, relativization of social life, destruction of value systems and virtualization of the communication space, the appeal to the moral and value principles of journalistic activity is obviously relevant. This is confirmed by the works of American, European and Ukrainian researchers. The purpose of the investigation is to study the spiritual values broadcast by the Bible from the standpoint of a social-communication approach and determine their role in social relations, journalistic activity and media communications. The methodological basis is a social-communication approach. Elements of system-structural, informational, and cultural scientific approaches were applied, as well as methods of quantitative and qualitative content analysis, discursive, conceptual, comparative analysis, synthesis, and generalization. The comprehension of biblical moral and value narratives was facilitated by philosophical methods. The main results of the axiological aspect of the study are presented., the implementation of which and the extrapolation of the results to modern trends in the global communication space confirm the determining role, mutual connection, and dependence of the fundamental moral and value categories not only in biblical discourse, but also in the real functioning of the current information society and personal life of a person. The nature, properties, interconnectedness and interdependence of Truth — Justice — Freedom — Goodness — Life as fundamental values and spiritual categories are substantiated. The conclusion is made that spiritual values are the fundamental foundations, moral regulators of interpersonal and social relations, “guarantors” of a harmonious world order and development, capable of performing the role of a value criterion in media communications and journalism.
