Abstract

The monograph represents the results of a comprehensive study on development of retrieval languages in the libraries and archives as a compulsory component of data retrieval system and an intermediary in implementation of the communication process. The retrieval languages are considered through the prism of creation of the reference and search system of libraries and the reference system of archives. The classification of retrieval languages is represented and their features are revealed at different stages of formation of libraries and archival affairs. For researchers in the field of library science, archival studies, social communications and related fields of knowledge, lecturers, post-graduate students and students of higher educational institutions, librarians and archivists, etc.
